Foundations of truth

Rev. John Gabbard- “Will the Anchor Hold?”

Holiness Foundations

Text us here! (Leave us your number if you want a response from us!)

“If the footmen wear you out, how will you contend with horses?” That question from Jeremiah 12:5 sits at the heart of this message, and it doesn’t flinch. We take an honest look at weariness, disappointment, and the kind of resilience it takes to stand when pressure escalates rather than eases. Instead of chasing quick relief, we turn toward a deeper foundation—identity, calling, and the stubborn grace of God that forges people into “a defenced city, an iron pillar.”

We walk through Jeremiah’s story, from God’s claim—“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you”—to the weight of preaching truth when crowds prefer comfort. From there we put a spotlight on our own foundations: are we building on sand, moving fast and wide, or are we digging down to bedrock with the spud bar of prayer, fasting, and obedience? We name the quiet sins we excuse—stubbornness, temper, bitterness—and talk about submission not as defeat but as the doorway to strength. Along the way, we draw courage from Enoch, who walked with God in a corrupt age and pleased Him, and from Isaiah 43’s promise that floods won’t sweep us away and flames won’t consume us.

To make it concrete, we share stories—a survivor stepping through jet fuel with a scripture on his lips, a coastline where man-made defenses vanished while Signal Rock emerged unshaken when the storm passed. Those images aren’t theatrics; they’re reminders that storms reveal foundations. The aim is simple and searching: set the anchor in Christ, drive it deep, and refuse to let numbers, headlines, or mood swings define your hope. Join us, share it with someone who’s tired, and if this helps steady your footing, subscribe and leave a review so others can find a place to tie their line and hold fast.

SPEAKER_05:

And uh I don't know how good we'll address it, but at least it'll help up uh deliver out and look at it. And uh most of the time, the only advantage I have over you is that I have uh uh had time to pray about it when we get over it maybe before it comes out away. But I'm reading tonight a very familiar scripture for air uh foundational text. I preached from it a number of times. Uh maybe sometimes here. Uh we're looking in the 12th chapter of uh Jeremiah, and we're looking at uh verse number five that we'll read in your hearing tonight. Verse number five, we'll come at your prayers tonight, the Lord will help us. The Bible said, if thou hast run with the footmen and they have wearied thee, then how canest thou contend with what in the land of peace wherein thou trust they weary thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of joy? I'll use this text tonight and preach a message. The Lord will help me. You'll pray for me. We've entitled Will the Anchor Hope. Will the Anchor Hope? Wouldn't you stretch your hands out and ask God to help me preach tonight? Father God, tonight in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we're coming again. Lord, as we come together in this prayer service tonight, we come praising you, we come believing you, we come worshiping you, we come humbly before you tonight when our eyes are upon you. We pray not for limelight, God, not for the applause of the brethren, but for the anointing of the Holy Ghost for a little while. I pray tonight, God, the Spirit of the Lord would kind of fire, oh God, in our midst, especially upon our altar tonight. God, if there'd be fire from heaven, fall, and meet every need. God, we'll give you the praise and the honor and all the glory. Oh, we ask it in the name of Jesus. Amen. I uh the Apostle Paul said that we have this treasure in earthen vessels. I suppose that much of what we preach and teach and say is uh directly influenced by our lives. In fact, one great man that's done going on now said that the preacher what you say in the sermon lasts only an hour. He said, The preacher that preaches preaches with all of his life. And uh, in spite of what some folks say, preachers have battles. We have trials. I suppose that Jeremiah is my favorite uh personality in the entire Old Testament. I suppose I'll take him above Daniel and uh the great evangelist Isaiah, uh, even Joseph and all the others, for it seems to me that I can identify with Jeremiah. And uh, would you not uh think it uh light if I tell you that uh for a number of years I thought I was gonna be like Jeremiah? You see, God commanded Jeremiah, and I'm thinking, why? And when I was approaching 25 years old and never had seen anybody that could turn my head, I actually thought, well, uh the Lord uh the air we're living in, he don't want it. Of course, then Ann came along, and all that changed, and I'm glad. But uh Jeremiah spent most of his life preaching to people who didn't want to hear it. That's right. In fact, we find the background of the text tonight that uh uh Jeremiah opens this twelfth chapter and he says, Now, God, you're righteous. You are a righteous God, and there's no way that if I seek to prove you otherwise, I'll fail. You're righteous, you're God. But he said, There's some things that bothers me. He said, God, it bothers me that the wicked prosper. And it seems like that you a smile of approval is upon what they're doing. That's an age-old question, friend. It's an age-old problem. It's been there since uh the beginning of time. Why to those who seemly that uh I realize in this hour the charismatic blab it and grab it and uh this sloppy agopy love that they're preaching uh uh that uh if you confess it right and say it right and believe it right and do it right, everything will be alright. Uh if you uh make your blessing packed and uh become partner or whatever with whoever and do it right, while you can drive a Cadillac or a limousine and live in a mansion on a hilltop. But I'm here to tell you, friend, that the Bible talks about the poor having the gospel preached unto them. Amen. But there's an age old problem that Jeremiah faced, uh how the faced it I faced it, and so have you. It seems like when you've done all that you can do, when you've lived your best, oh glory to God, I believe I felt him bring on that. It seems like when you've done your best, uh when you paid your tithes and you went to Sunday school and you've done all this that you're supposed to do, you know, or you sacrificed and you're done and you lived good all week long and and you kept yourself pure, and at the end of the week the paycheck still isn't straight out pouring up. How the young and still come down with the measles or the old cow still got sick. Amen. All these questions, amen. Maybe you ain't uh faced them out loud, maybe you ain't ever done like old Jeremiah did and say, God, there's some things that bothered me. Now I ain't gonna accuse you of being unrighteous, but I want to ask you some questions. Well, it seems to me like that's that's the way I felt here a while back. Ain't feeling much better tonight. I told you I like Jeremiah. You know, one time Jeremiah said, he said, I wish I had me a cottage of a wayparent man. I wish I had me, I'd go away from my people. I dwell over there, I wouldn't watch what they do. I've been that way in my mind, whether you know it or not, I resigned the pastorate a hundred times. In my mind, I packed my clothes away and I went down the road a hundred times. That's the store that ever caught in it. Jeremiah said, I must not say anything else about it. But he said, Well, that's when I thought to refrain, it got like a palm or shaped in my bones, and I couldn't hold back. This week I got to pray and I went out one day and I tell them the Lord, and I began to just tell the Lord, how sick and tired I was of all that's going on. I began telling how damn I was and how the battles were raging and how ever sighting of my people run is in the problem, and I I began to talk to the Lord, and when I quit of talking, the Holy Ghost said to me, What I've said to you tonight, if you've run with a pump and they have weared you. You know what he was saying to Wayne? I'm sorry. He said, The storm is gonna get worse. Amen. There's a more storm coming. It looked like that you would have thought God would have said, Now listen, bless your little sweetheart. Now you just sit up here, son. Everything will be all right in a day or two. Now, son, if you'll just hold on a day or two longer, you'll see my goodness. He didn't say that. He said, if you've run with footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses? And if in uh this land of peace where you trust, they've wearied you. What are you gonna do when Jordan quells? You see, these greater storms are coming, these greater trials of faith we're gonna have to face. We've grown weary and impatient under the conditions, and we are hoping to stand the friend if we can't stand now. I know you're saying to me, Brother Gabbard, how in the world am I gonna stand it? I'm just barely saved now, and sometimes I ain't sure if I am. I just barely am getting by now. The Lord blessed me just enough to let me know he ain't plumb forsaking me. And I'm just going out of one trial into another. I'm like the proverbial man who said, Cheer up, things couldn't be worse. He said, I cheered up, sure enough, things got worse. Well, that's the way it seems like it is in the hour that we're living in. It seems like the trials are on every hand, and everybody we hear are prophesying. The world economic leaders are saying it's gonna get worse. This week the headlines is they don't have no idea what to do. Other days, some economists say it's getting better, some say it's a recession at my house, it's a depression. Amen. And they say some that ain't gonna get no better. It seemed like that we want a war, and in a few days we're bogged down to the peace. It's gonna cost us more than the war ever did. And we don't know which way to turn. It seemed like in this world on every hand we look, there's trials and tribulations. I don't know a family that ain't got sickness. I don't know how a family ain't got some kind of heartache. Amen. And then this preacher has the audacity tonight to preach to you from this pulpit, and it's gonna get worse. Amen. You say, preacher, I uh I wish you just stayed home. Well, hang on. Amen. We ain't done yet. Amen. I'm a preacher to you tonight. Will the anchor hold? Amen. There's sometimes, oh, pray for me. I don't know. They sometimes at sea the wind gets so rough and the waves get so high, they can't steer the boat. You want to do this? They throw an anchor out behind it, they throw one in front of it, they throw one starboard, they throw one forward, and they wait. And they hope the anchor holds. Well, tonight, I'm gonna preach it to you. Will you anchor hold? That's what God said to Jeremiah. He said, Jeremiah, if you've done got discouraged, if you're done washed out, if you're done a complaint because your family turned against you. That's what happened. Amen. This little fella, he said, My family, you brother, I know you brothers turned against you, but he said, if you've grown weary in a foot race, what are you gonna do when the horses break out? Amen. And if you can't stand and pray now, if you can't live for God now, if you can't keep the victory now, Brother Leon Buzzard said, I pastored them folks that uh had them big uh brooder houses and sold chickens. He said, I could tell when they come to church if the chickens were high or the chickens were low. They were so influenced by the community they lived in, by the job situation, amen, by the environment they was working on, whether they had money in the bank or not, they couldn't shout. Amen. But you know what Habakkuk said? He said, if there ain't no more fig tree blossoming, and there ain't no fatted cat to kill, amen, and there ain't no bees in the freezer, he's not gonna praise God anyway. Amen. I'm a preaching to me and you tonight, friend. Yes, the greater storms are coming and greater trials of faith.

SPEAKER_06:

And the world. What in the world am I going to do?

SPEAKER_05:

Jesus talked about that controversial subject of adultery. And a man putting away his wife and getting another. And the disciples listened to what he said about it. He said, He said, It'd be better for a man not to do this. He said, But who can hear this? Who is it that can keep this kind of commandment? Who is it that can live up to what you're preaching? Who is it that can define that heart purity? And he said to him, He said, With man it is impossible. But with God, all things are possible. And here we go. Yeah, the storms are gonna get worse. Amen. And uh there'll be night after night, and day after day of it, and week after week, and maybe a month or two, and the valley may turn into a river bottom. Amen. Down a dry spell. But my friends, uh, in the midst of all of this, when God called this old boy, listen to what he said to him. The devil, first of all, tells you, Rick, that God don't even care. That you are with all the problems of the world, that you are not even significant enough to make God even stop and blink. But he told him in the first calling of this prophet, he said, While you were in the womb, while you were forming in the womb, I knew you. What about folks? This ain't my preaching tonight, this ain't my message, but what about these folks? Amen. Who says that that thing that kills a fetus or a few cells? Amen, or something, amen. God said, He said, Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee. And before thou cameest forth from the womb, I sanctified thee, and I ordained you. I wonder how many preachers and prophets and great men of God we've killed in this hour we're living in, and call it abortion, and said it was legal, but God said it was murder. And you write it down in your book, my friend. Amen. But he said, Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee. Before I came forth out of the womb, I sanctified you, I ordained you. Amen. God had a plan. I know the devil says, and you might as well ain't nobody cares, ain't nobody loves you. But I want you to know God has a plan for your life. Amen. Before you was ever to come forth from the womb, you might not live up to it, you may not ever find it, but God had a plan for men and women. Somebody said to me one day, said if God's a God of love, and you explain all these deep born babies and all this uh this uh stuff that's going on in the world. I said, You wait a minute. Don't you blame that on God? Amen. God said in that old black black book, he said, If you keep my statute, if you walk in my commandments, if you do what I told you, I'll bless you the pill, I'll bless the pretty cattle, I'll bless the fruity wool. Don't say that if you don't, he said, A curse will overtake you, and you'll stumble around like a drunk man, a blind man at noonday. Can I? Then said I, Lord God, I cannot speak, for I am but a child. Oh you get through telling God how insignificant and insufficient and how much your inability is, and how that you can't take it no longer, how that you're gonna throw in the towel and quit. I'm a preaching on when you anchor hold. Before you do all of those things, listen to what he said. He said, I'm I'm all of this, but the Lord said, Say not, I am a child, for thou shalt go forth unto all them that I shall send thee. Whatsoever I command thee, thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces, for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Amen. Verse 18 said, For behold, I have made thee a def this day a defenced city, an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, against the people of the land, and they shall fight against thee, and they shall not prevail against thee, for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee. Amen. I'm a preaching, there's greater storms of coming. Jeremiah, I'm not gonna tell you it ain't gonna be better, it's gonna get worse. It ain't gonna just be your family after a while of persecuting you. It ain't gonna just be your mommy and your daddy and your brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles and cousins. Amen. They don't have anything to do with you. Talk about you being an old sorry, homeless preacher. Amen. They ain't gonna just be them after a while. After a while, you're gonna have to have the kings against you. And I'm gonna tell you something. I will live in you start preaching old time homeless and hearing the line like they did a few years ago, and the preachers are against you, and a lot of churches are gets you. That one man said to me the way, he said, You keep preaching like you're preaching if you don't have nowhere to preach. He said, It's old fashioned, it's out of date, son, it's a blue age, amen. That old time hell five and brimstone preaching, and no more, and then we're living in. I said, Son, if the church won't have any, and I can't preach in the church, my Bible, my dad is too strong, like John Westland, and I'm gonna preach in the graveyard, and I'm gonna preach all of this, amen. I'm gonna lift up my voice in the army and you're living in. And I want you to know the night for in if I fall, let me fall upon the way that way under. Amen. I still believe in the all-time way, I still believe in the power of God and changing everybody's lives.

SPEAKER_06:

I believe in a storm dresser, amen, and a prostitute, amen.

SPEAKER_05:

I believe that a hour we're living in, with the storm of coming, and the trials of faith getting greater. One build on the sand. Now, he builded it a lot faster. It got a lot bigger, a lot quicker. This ain't the first boat I've ever rode that got rocky. I pastored him before. I've seen them come. Numbers don't move me much. I've seen the numbers swell. There wasn't no place to sit in the church. That's why I've been a long time building, David. That's why you've been nudging me and Dougle that way. I've been awake. I've seen the numbers swell and I've seen them go. Amen. I was a pastor at one time. I dug along, took the church, we had to turn like this way and preach everybody I had set in the front. We preached to everybody on the I just turned backwards, read my text, turned backwards, we preached. God got the blessing, got the prospering folks got to get saved, coming in from various places. First thing you know, we packed the house out. Ah, but you know what? If you stayed off tobacco and bridges and the scissors and the makeup and a few things like that, you could really prosper. But I guess I guess I ain't got no sense. It was sin 20 years ago. You supposed to get your head up and sin tonight. Anyway, it was wrong in mama's day. It's wrong now. I don't care what these uh light is coming to you.

SPEAKER_06:

I know the prophet just prophesied smooth things, and Jeremiah prophesied. She's coming down, and nobody wants to hear it.

SPEAKER_05:

But God said, I made you the pit city. I watched them exit. A few days later, they broke ground and built a church. Almost in like overnight. It just sprung up a first block and then brick. I tried to stay as we as I could. I drove down by that thing one day, and the Spirit of the Lord spoke to me. And he said, Except God build the house, they labor in vain that build it. Except God keep the city, the watchman watcheth in vain. Amen. It blew up mushroomed and growed. But friend, there was one that built his house on the sand, and the storms came. And the winds blew and beat behemoth upon that thing, and it failed. Could I tell you it don't matter where you build it? There's some folks looking for an easier way. It don't matter where you go, where you're gonna hide. When the storm comes, the Bible said there were some folks who made a league with hell. Amen. They entered into a league with hell, and there was a coming with death. But he said the storm, he said it won't stand because a storm and shall sweep over the refuge of lies. Amen. I'm telling you, there's a storm coming. But if your anchor is spandoted upon the rock, amen, Christ Jesus, amen. I told him sometime when I go and preach someplace early my following I talk. Amen. I told him that I said he said, He saved me, and he said he brought me out in this wholeness way and stopped my foot in the wholeness way. Amen. I want you to know, friend, uh, there was one that built him a house on a rock. You know why some of you boys uh pray through every revival and backslide the next time? Because you ain't never prayed through and got on the rock. That's right. I believe if you pray through lies and get the Holy Ghost that I got the fourth day of September in 1970, I believe it'll keep you longer than a week. I believe it'll keep you longer than a week. Amen. They got down about 10 inches. We take them post hole diggers. These big old boys ride them things down and just bounce. After a while, Kelps sent after a sput bar. And they got a hold of old sput bar. Them diggers wouldn't do it. But they got a hold of old sput bar, and then sails are down, timers would just bounce. That's why they begin to fight. First thing you know, he pooped wrapped through the old hard stuff it winked. See him prize her this way and prize her that way, prize her this way and prize her that way. After a while he hit her again and started breaking up. Started breaking up. He took the other diggers and cleaned the hole out. Went her down about another ten inches or so. After a while, he hit one. I jumped up and down on that thing. I'd hit it, it just bounced and forward fly. I'd hit it, hit bounce and the forward fly. I said, we just must have put that post hole right there. It ain't going nowhere. It got down on the rock. Amen. I still believe, friends, even though the storms are going to get worse and the trials will get harder. Amen. If you'll dig down, amen, until you get on the solid rock. Until you get, and I'm gonna tell you something. When you hit the rock, the fore apply. Amen. I thought when these folks getting saved, they get up front bow, my tie, tie my bow, and set after me like the Holy Ghost.

SPEAKER_06:

But I would use the whole time hot to the Holy Moe, the fall apply. Amen. Amen will keep you. You'll make your whole. Amen. When you get sealed with the eyes of his spirit.

SPEAKER_05:

That's what Paul was talking about when he said, Who is sufficient for these things? Who is sufficient for these things? And then he said, Not that we are sufficient in ourselves. But, oh glory to God, our sufficiency is of God.

SPEAKER_06:

He said, I don't believe I'd go up further.

SPEAKER_05:

Was heaven going bankrupt? I don't know what I'm gonna do. Why? Is heaven run out of supplies? We must learn, folks. You know what the hardest lesson? You gotta learn to submit. Did you ever see an air when men are so hard to say it against submitting to authority? Have you ever seen an air when church folks just ain't gonna do what nobody does? And come in the morning, I'm gonna go pray this thing through. I'm gonna tell the Lord. I'm gonna tell the Lord. And I told a good friend of mine. I mean a real good friend of mine. I said, I'm gonna have to talk with the Lord about this. I'm gonna tell him.

SPEAKER_04:

He said, That's dangerous business, buddy. He said, I know a fella one time made his mind up and giving my answer from God. And he went that way too and said, God give him his answer. And God said, Don't you never talk to me that way again.

SPEAKER_05:

You forget he's God. These little Hollywood tube fold preachers going around telling, Command God. You can command God, I believe in healing from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet. I believe in the miracle power of God, and I've seen it. But I still know that God's sovereign. He's God, and he does just what he wants to do. And if God says it's gonna be so, who am I to say anything about it? That's exactly what Jeremiah was doing. He said, Now, God, I know I can accuse you of being dishonest. But he said, I can't understand why. Well, I can't understand why something had happened either. There's some things, Edna, that I may never understand in this world. But I know one thing. That if I can just drive my anchor deep enough, that if I can drive my anchor deep enough, and tie my line secure enough that I can take hold of that rope and swing out over nothing. And it'll hold me. It'll hold me. Amen. When you've come to the end, just tie knot and hang on. Who's sufficient? God help us to learn to submit. And not to shout under his plan. Some of them submit, but not women. We go down the road kicking and screaming now. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it this way. I'm gonna do that the other way. I don't like it.

SPEAKER_03:

I don't like it this way. That ain't submitting.

SPEAKER_04:

I just say, Lord, that's the way you want it.

SPEAKER_05:

And you help me, so it'll be the way I want it. Amen. Help me learn how to put myself under authority. You know, we get to the place that we're so used to just having our own way. We just everywhere where we go, I'm gonna get to go be out of way or no way. You don't play like I want to play, I'll put my toes. That's why we're gonna change on a little corner, not a little holler.

SPEAKER_06:

It's not if the bath it's not if the bathroom of the mouth, it's the bath, it's not, it's the bow, double people, all the time of a hook up from the hunt.

SPEAKER_05:

Why callest thou me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say? But you would say unto me, Lord, I'm not an adulterer, I'm not a profane person. But I say unto thee, why wilt thou not submit willingly? Why will thou not submit thyself, yea, one to another? He that would be great, have I not told you, must be servant of all? Why do you go in the bitterness of your spirit? Why does that bitterness rise up in you? Yea, I say unto thee, but except you repent, I shall visit you in judgment, and I shall correct thy backslidings in heart, for I am the Lord, and besides me there is none other. Look unto me and live. Yea, it is my desire to give unto you the kingdom. But yea, little flock, I say unto thee that trials will come, yea, many fold temptations shall grip your soul. Yea, I say unto thee, that if thou wilt listen and hearken unto my spirit, I shall lead you in a plain path in the midst of darkness, and you shall find solid rock to walk upon when the ground shakes around you.

SPEAKER_04:

Look unto me and live from the ends of the earth.

SPEAKER_05:

Ah, I say unto thee, be not as the Pharisee of old, but humble yourself. Humble yourself, confess your sin, and come low. Yea, why would you find judgment when I would give you mercy?

SPEAKER_04:

Look unto me and live. Look unto me and live. I am sufficient, I am the Lord, I will help thee, and that right early, if you will trust me, saith the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah. Would you lift your hands and praise him tonight?

SPEAKER_02:

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. I am the Lord.

SPEAKER_04:

That's what he said. Am I? You got down now.

SPEAKER_05:

What are you gonna do when Jordan gets out of his place? You can't live for God now. You can't get your prayer through now. You can't stay saved all week long now with having lustful thoughts run through your mind. You can't keep your self unspotted from the world now. What are you gonna do? And all the floodgates are open. And it comes out in wave after wave to perversion.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, tell you what you can do. You can walk with God. You can walk with God.

SPEAKER_05:

You can do like Enoch done. Bible said in an hour when the thoughts of men's hearts were on evil continually, in a time when God said, It vexes me that I even created man. Enoch walked with God. He walked with God. And he had this testimony that he pleased God. You say, I just don't feel like I can please him. You can. You can work for the REA and please God. You can put your time in on that job, Jeff, and you can please God. Amen. You can humble yourself down. Oh. Now I'm gonna tell you something, boys. Right now you're suppressing it. But if you don't kill it, it's gonna kill you. It's one thing to suppress that desire. And suppress it. One fellow said, I really thought I had it whipped. I said, all you dumb is had it suppressed. You kept it beat down while you was up. But when you got down, it came up. Amen. I'm telling us tonight, we're gonna have to bust through. I know you hit the hard ground and you're pretty well satisfied. But take the old spud bar of prayer and fasting and start hitting that thing and see if it don't start going down a little deeper. You ain't near the rock yet. There's one thing about it. When you hit the rock, the fire will fly.

SPEAKER_04:

Amen. Holy Ghost is talking. When he's talking, I'm done. We're gonna pray tonight. Holy Ghost is talking to you about your will. He's talking to you about your stubborn streak.

SPEAKER_05:

Self-will is just as wrong as adultery. We categorize sin. We look down our noses at those that fell through the net and committed these social abominations. But they some have got a temper that's just as evil and wrong as that fella that cusses. When you smash your finger and riar back and throw your hammer across the house and say your little holiness cuss words. God who looks on your heart records what comes from the heart. Now, folks, either it's right or it's not. The Bible said the pure heart will see God.

SPEAKER_04:

Some folks gonna be pure enough to see God. They some people want to have a pure heart and clean hands.

SPEAKER_05:

He said that his arm wasn't short.

SPEAKER_04:

That he couldn't say. That his ear wouldn't dull that he didn't hear. But he said, Your sin. Your sin. Your stubbornness.

SPEAKER_05:

Your subverting. Lioness. Little way to getting around it.

SPEAKER_04:

And separate you. Between you and your God. One day you're gonna need him. And you're gonna have time to repent. Without touching. Nobody come to the piano tonight. A little message tonight is Willie Anchor hole.

SPEAKER_05:

I'd better look at it again. John the Baptist got discouraged. Sorry, he was in prison. And he kept hurrying about what Jesus was doing, his preaching. And so he sent a disciples and he said, You say to him, Is this him?

SPEAKER_04:

Or do we look for another? You know what today? A lot of folks have left this whole nest away.

SPEAKER_05:

They got disillusioned with this Jesus.

SPEAKER_04:

And they're looking for another one.

SPEAKER_05:

But I drove my anchor down here better than 20 years ago.

SPEAKER_04:

That is where I'm gonna die. Right here Elijah is where I'm gonna keep. I've drawed a line ain't going no farther. And the Lord said, it's gonna get worse. How are we gonna stand it? Because he said in Isaiah 43, when you pass through the waters, when you go through the flood, it shall not overflow thee. When you walk through the fire, it shall not end. I heard a man giving a testimony. Later on, they told me that he wrote it in a book. He was in a fire. That was a one of those big old jets crashed. He found himself, when he came to, he found himself hanging upside down. Still held in by his horny.

SPEAKER_05:

The compartment that he was in was fastly filling up with diesel or with jet fuel. That volatile fuel that ten thousand times more unstable than gasoline. He could smell smoke where it was burning in various places. And he knew he knew that in a in a moment's time, at any minute, that that thing was gonna blow up. But he's a Holy Ghost field Christian, Laj. And he said, in that moment's time, this is what come to me.

SPEAKER_04:

When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned. Neither shall a flame kindle upon thee.

SPEAKER_05:

He finally wretched around and got a hold of something and managed to cut himself out of the harness. Fell waist deep in unit. And these were fueled. Smoke flipping around and fire burning.

SPEAKER_04:

And he said he began to make his way out of that place, and over and over, he had quote this verse of scripture in Isaiah 43. Neither shall a flame kindle against you. And they were talking about it was a miracle. That this one man came out of there.

SPEAKER_05:

Well, if one man can grab hold of one promise from the word of God and throw it back to the heavens and walk through that diesel fuel, I believe I can take that same book and that same verse and when the flood came and when the trials come, David. I believe I can say it'll not wash me over. Amen. What was it? Leon talked about seeing that flood come or that hurricane that hit that uh California coast and that sea signal rock that had been there, they said, since the creation of time. Out there in the harbor is signal rock. It's been there, he said, from the creation of time. But he said when that uh when that storm hit, now they had built, they had built catches all in around that beach, concrete and steel, that the insurance company said, Go ahead and build your houses, we'll insure them. It's hurricane proof. But when that hurricane hit with waves that were 37 feet high, it washed the concrete, it took the steel and it took those yachts, it took those uh big boats and bolt houses and cast them up on the bank and made kindling out of them. And he said, for day after day you couldn't see the rock. The newspapers would write, is signal rock gone? Has the rock finally been destroyed? But he said, after seven or eight days, maybe after several days, the storm finally abated, and the waves laid down, and the rock came up out of the water. Man built concrete bunkers and steel enforced concrete piers had been thrown away. But that rock that God had set down somewhere in the creation of time when the wind quit a blowing and the storm abated, the rock was still there. I'd like to thank, oh glory to God, and I'm trying to quit. I'd like to thank tonight. Amen. When this storm is over.
