Rev Tim Brimm- “Giants and Giant Killers”
Text us here! (Leave us your number if you want a response from us!)
Are you facing giants that seem impossible to overcome? Do you wonder if victory is even possible against the towering challenges of our time? Rev. Tim Brimm delivers a riveting message from 2 Samuel 21 that might just change your perspective forever.
Drawing from the powerful story of David—who once slew Goliath but later "waxed faint" in battle against other giants—Rev. Tim Brimm reveals how God is raising up a new generation of spiritual warriors for our time. This compelling sermon unpacks the profound truth that while giants are inevitable in every generation, they are never invincible.
"Giants are attacking our homes, they are attacking our hearts, they are attacking our holiness churches," Rev. Brimm warns with urgent conviction. "We are in a battle with giants." Yet the message brims with hope as he reminds us that if David and others conquered their giants, we can overcome ours too.
The sermon specifically addresses two massive giants confronting today's believers: materialism and mental battles. The first tempts us to prioritize possessions over purpose, while the second attacks our minds through depression, doubt, and discouragement. With pastoral wisdom, Rev. Brimm explains how these giants can be defeated through proper priorities and spiritual disciplines.
What makes this message particularly powerful is its call for continuity in spiritual warfare. Just as Abishai, Sibachai, and others stepped up when David grew weary, God is looking for young men and women today who will "lay their lives on the altar of consecration" and stand in the gap against the enemies of faith.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by personal challenges or concerned about the spiritual battles facing our world, this message offers biblical insight, practical wisdom, and a renewed sense of purpose. Listen now to discover how you can become part of another generation of giant killers!

Hello, this is Austin Griffiths, the pastor of Open Praise Fellowship Holiness Church in Easley, South Carolina. Thank you for listening to Holiness Preaching Online. Let's take these truths of God's Word with us and apply these biblical doctrines to our lives. I know you'll enjoy this sermon from a holiness preacher.
Speaker 2:Amen, boy, last night was a tremendous service and I appreciated that preaching, didn't you? I'll tell you, brother Meadow just absolutely got a hold of the Lord. Conviction came in this house. Young folks literally run into the altars Praise God, and I was thrilled to see that happening. I had several Brother Meadow that told me last night that everything was ready. Hallelujah, and that's what it's all about at youth camp getting ready to go and staying ready to go. Is that right? You cannot be getting ready when he comes back. You've got to be ready. I said you can't be getting ready, you've got to be ready. You've got to have everything settled and prepared to go. And I was glad to see all those last night that lifted their hand and said that they were ready to go after that service last night. Appreciate Brother Meadow and his preaching, his burden and just the will of God that he was following last night. I appreciate the good response in the altars yesterday morning and last night, and prayer is where we get it and the altars is where youth camp is made successful, and so I want to encourage you again this morning let's get right back in the altars, let's pray, seek the face of God and let the Lord have his way among us. All right, I've already felt the spirit of the Lord here today. Have you Amen?
Speaker 2:We're going to go to 2 Samuel, chapter number 21 today. 2 Samuel, chapter number 21. Want to start reading in verse number 15 and go through verse number 22. 2 Samuel, chapter number 21. Verse number 15. 2 Samuel, chapter number 21,. Verse number 15. Hallelujah, thank you, jesus. I trust that you have your Bibles this morning. I kind of gently rebuked you yesterday and so I'm going to ask you to hold your Bible up. If you got it, hold it up. Hey, we got a few more on the boys' side, especially Girls. Bring your Bible to church, all right. 2 Samuel, chapter 21, verse number 15. If you have it, say amen. Come on, let me hear you Say amen, amen. The Bible said in verse number 15,.
Speaker 2:Moreover, the Philistines had yet war again with Israel, and David went down and his servants with him and fought against the Philistines. And David waxed faint and Ish-bib-nab, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed 300 shekels of brass in weight, he, being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David. But Abishai, the son of Zariah, secured him and smote the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swear unto him saying Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel. And it came to pass after this that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob. Then Sibachai the Hushethite slew Sath, which was of the sons of the giant. And there was again a battle in Gab with the Philistines, where Ohanan, the son of Jeororgim of Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. And there was yet a battle in Gab, over and over battles fighting with giants. There was a battle in Gab where was a man of great stature that had on every hand six fingers and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number. And he also was born to the giant. And when he defied Israel, jonathan, the son of Shimea, the brother of David, slew him. These four were born, battle the giant, but he waxed faint. And so what happened is that other men began to step up and fight the giants.
Speaker 2:I want to preach to you for a little while this morning, if the Lord would help me and if you would help me on this thought. Another generation of giant killers. Another generation of giant killers. Let's pray together. Let's all stand all over the house and pray together. Heavenly Father, thank you for the Word of God, thank you for the Holy Ghost, what You've been doing in this youth camp, lord, I pray that you would again move among us. I pray that the Spirit of the Lord would settle on the preacher, that you would anoint me and liberate me. I pray, god, that the Spirit of the Lord would touch the hearts of men and women right here in this service today. Move around the altar, pour out the Holy Ghost and make us victorious conquerors in the name of Jesus. And everybody said Amen. Tell your neighbor, I'm a giant killer. Amen. Another generation of giant killers. We know that David was a giant killer, don't we? Amen?
Speaker 2:From the time of his youth, david was a giant killer. He was a man of fighting. He faced a bear and God gave him the victory. He fought with a lion, and God gave him the victory over that. Then he came to that biggest giant in his life Goliath and again God gave him the victory. Praise God In our Bible reading here today. Itoliath and again God gave him the victory. Praise God In our Bible reading here today.
Speaker 2:It's said in verse number 15, there is war again. Now David has grown old. He is no longer that young man with a harp in one hand and a slingshot in the other hand, but now he is an older man. His endurance for battle is failing, for it said in verse number 15 that he waxed faint, amen. His power was gone. His stamina to fight the long day of battle was waxing old. He was past his prime as a fighter and Ish-bib-na has found this weakness in him and the Bible said that he was about to kill him with a new sword. But it's good to find out that David had already began the training program of another generation of giant killers. And when David was waxing faint, these men were waxing strong and they were ready to fight the good fight, amen. Men like Abishai in verse 17, sibachai in verse 18, elhanan is mentioned in verse 19 and Jonathan in verse 21. They had been trained in the art of war and were ready to rise up and fight For the cause of the King and the kingdom, and they were willing to hazard their own lives and stand beside their faithful leader, amen.
Speaker 2:I really believe that today in the holiness movement there are giants that are moving against our churches. Amen, can you agree with me on that? There are giants that are moving against our churches. They are not physical specimens of height or even great strength, but they are spiritual attackers who seem to be larger than anything that we have ever faced before in our life. Amen.
Speaker 2:Let me tell you a few things about giants. First of all, giants are inevitable. You cannot escape the fact that you will face a giant. I said you will face a giant. They are attacking our homes, they are attacking our hearts, they are attacking our holiness churches. We are in a battle with giants. But can I tell you something else? Giants are intolerable. You cannot coddle them, you cannot find them, hold them, but you must resist them. But listen, giants are not invincible. You can beat the giant, you can get the victory, you can be an overcomer. You must conquer them. Listen, if David killed his giants, then these other men knew I can kill my giants.
Speaker 2:And if there's been holiness people in the past that have killed the giants of their generation, then I tell you that in this generation you can kill your giant, you can get your victory, you can win your battle, and I believe God is raising up another generation of giant killers right here at Youth Camp. Help me, holy Ghost. I believe God's looking for some young men and women that will lay their lives on the altar of consecration and be willing to give themselves For the cause of the kingdom. And so what I want to ask you today is this Are you ready to live for your Lord? Are you ready to die for your deliverer? Are you willing to be faithful, to fight For the faith of our fathers? Are you going to be another generation of giant killers? Is there anybody here today that wants to be a giant killer? Wave your hand at me. Anybody that wants to fight the good fight of faith, anybody that wants to stand up for God Amen, you've got to be a generation of giant killers. Notice here, there has been a generation of giant killers.
Speaker 2:You can look in the Bible and find giant killers. In the Bible, the biblical record tells us there were some great men who were anointed to be giant killers. There were men like Joshua. Oh, what a great man and hero of the faith he was. That man, joshua, amen His very name, amen, means salvation. He was ready to fight the giants in Canaan. He said let's go get them. Let's win the battle. Men like Caleb, whose name means devoted, that said I'll fight the three giants of Anak and I will destroy them. Men like David that were men after God's own heart, even they said we're going to fight others may bow or even run away, but I'm commissioned to kill giants. Even they were those among the Bible.
Speaker 2:But can I tell you we've had giant killers among our believers. Oh yes, we have in giant killers among our believers. Oh yes, we have. In every generation of our holiness movement we have had many great giant killers. They have fought their own battles with violent and murderous giants. But now, as they grow older and their strength begins to fade and their physical body begins to weaken, they are looking for somebody in the holiness movement that will stand up and be another generation of giant killers. Amen, oh yes, hear me now. But not everybody is a giant killer. I said not everybody is a giant killer.
Speaker 2:There's always a group of people that say let's just live with the giant, let's just tolerate the giant, let's just put up with him a little bit. There's always a generation like that that said let's just tolerate him, let's tolerate sin, let's tolerate the world. Remember the twelve spies? Only Joshua and Caleb came back and said we can kick them, we can kill them rather, amen. I'll tell you right now. They said we can kick them out and we can pull down their stronghold and we can get the victory. Amen, we can kill the giant. But there were ten others that said we cannot do it. Amen, we cannot go in, we cannot get the victory.
Speaker 2:You see, we are living in a generation where there are some young people that say I can't win. There are some moms and dads that say we cannot win. There are even some preachers that are burying their head in the sand and they say we can't win. But I believe God is sounding the trumpet, even calling out the troops of another generation and saying somebody's going to rise up, somebody's going to stand for me, somebody's going to be a fighter, somebody's going to stand for the truth. Even I'm looking today for a generation of giant killers. Even thank God for the heroes of the past, thank God for the heroes of the day, but I'm looking for another generation of giant killers. Amen, hallelujah.
Speaker 2:Not only is there a generation of giant killers, but here's what I want to preach to you today. Notice, there is a generation of giants. Every generation has their giants, and if there's going to be a giant killer, there's got to be a giant. Is that right? Amen? If there's going to be a giant killer, there's got to be something to fight. And we live in a day, amen day, where we have plenty of giants. You can ask the older generation and they would list the things that they battled. They fought against their own giants. But I'm not worried about the past generation right now. I'm worried about this present generation. You hear me, young people, right now, you have your own set of giants that you've got to battle. I'm worried about this present generation. You hear me, young people right now, amen, you have your own set of giants that you've got to battle. You've got your own fight on your hands. Amen, that's why you've got to be a giant killer, for there are giants that are attacking your generation. Amen.
Speaker 2:In verse 15, he said there was war again In verse 18, war again In verse 19,. War again In verse 19,. War again In verse 20, there's yet again another war, amen. We are living in a day where giants are attacking us, things that we've never had to deal with before, problems that we've never had to go through before.
Speaker 2:Young people. I realize that you're facing a giant, but I tell you, in the name of Jesus, you've got to be a giant killer that's equal to the giant that's attacking you. Hey, let me deal with some of these giant killers. This is what I need to preach right here Amen. Somebody told me, said don't hold us too long, it's hot. I'll tell you what I told them. I said I'm going to be hotter than you are. So I know it's hot today, all right, and so let's just bear with this and let me preach and let the Holy Ghost move Amen.
Speaker 2:The first generational giant that I see here is that one of materialism. There's a giant that is attacking us in the area of materialism. There's a giant that is attacking us in the area of materialism. Oh, yes, you see your generation. Young people have been told that you can have the best of everything. As a matter of fact, you deserve it. Amen. You deserve the best. Nothing less than the best will do. It starts with our clothes Amen. We got to have the best. Nothing less than the best will do. It starts with our clothes Amen. We've got to have the best. It goes all the way down to our shoes, amen. It goes over to every electronic gadget Amen. It moves into every realm of entertainment. You deserve the best. If you want it, you get it. If it's your pleasure, have it. If it's your want, go get it. If it's your desire amen. Get it on the credit card if you have to, but get it at all costs, Amen. And then, as young people get older, it moves over into cars and houses, and then they want boats, and then they want everything else Amen. It's a spirit of materialism. Amen, you deserve it. We live in an entitlement society where everybody feels like they deserve what they want.
Speaker 2:Now you listen to this preacher. There is no sin in dressing nice. As a matter of fact, I believe you ought to look as nice as you can, amen. Soap doesn't cost much and shampoo doesn't cost much, and deodorant would work and a toothbrush would be great. Boys, amen. I tell you, it doesn't hurt for you to look as good as you can. You ought to dress as nice as you can when you go to the house of God. Amen, you ought to dress as nice as you can when you go to the house of God. Amen. You ought to wear your best. I said you ought to wear your best. You ought not come in looking like you just crawled out of bed, amen. You ought not come in looking like you just played a ball game or you've been sleeping with the dogs. I tell you you ought to come in looking right. There's no sin in dressing nice, no sin in having nice clothes. I believe you ought to have a nice car. I believe you ought to have a good house.
Speaker 2:But when the spirit of materialism gets a hold on your heart, you allow your priorities to get out of line and the things of this life become prioritized above the things of God. Hey friend, if you're in that position, you're allowing the giant of materialism to destroy you and you need to go to battle with that thing and get a victory over the giant of materialism. Hey, do you hear the preacher? Right now, I tell you you ought not worry about even what you look like, so much as what your soul looks like. Even you ought to worry about even what you look like, so much as what your soul looks like. Even you ought to worry about even putting God first, even seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these other things shall be added unto you. Amen.
Speaker 2:There are two places. Help me, holy Ghost. There are two places in scripture that deal with our choice between God and money. In Matthew, chapter number 6, and in Luke, chapter number 16. He deals with these two things. In Matthew, he deals with laying your treasure up In heaven and not on earth and says seek God first. In Luke, he deals with the fact that you cannot serve two masters. You must choose either God or money. And then he begins to deal with adultery and finally goes straight to the story of a rich man going to hell. The inference is obvious If you allow materialism to get a hold of you, it will affect your morals and it will take you to hell. Amen.
Speaker 2:I tell you right now. It is the same spirit that causes you to go after materialism that will cause you to be immoral. Do you hear what I just said? It is the same spirit that causes you to go after materialism that will lead you to immorality. That's why the Holy Ghost spoke about it in Luke and he said if you want materialism, even the next step is immorality and the next step is hell.
Speaker 2:I tell you, my friend, it is dangerous to let the giant of materialism get a hold of your heart. You've got to turn your back on the pleasure of the world and put your priorities right. I tell you seek God first and God will take care of you. God will give you the job you need. God will give you the house you need. God will take care of you. God will give you the job you need. God will give you the house you need. God will take care of it. Young people Even put your affection on things above, not on things of this world. You've got to put your affection on a higher plane. Even notice what it said. Set your affection Even. That means to pick it up and place it there. You cannot let the world dictate when your affection is, but you've got to place them On a higher power. Place them on a higher plane, place them on the power of God. Put your priorities Even toward God.
Speaker 3:Amen.
Speaker 2:Amen. Not only is there a giant that's affecting our materialism, but there is a giant that is attacking our minds. Help me, holy Ghost. There has been an attack on the minds of our youth. This giant has tried to twist and corrupt their minds. You see, the mind is the first battlefield In our Christian walk. The devil knows if I can get a victory in their mind. It won't be long and I'll be in their daily life.
Speaker 2:So he tries to gain access to your mind. How does he do that? He tries to gain access through your eyes, what you see. He tries to gain access to your mind. How does he do that? He tries to gain access through your eyes, what you see. He tries to gain access through your ears, through a hurt feeling, through a broken heart. He tries to gain through a failure of the past or a fear of the present, or even the futility of the future. He tries to gain access and work on your mind.
Speaker 2:Oh, satan will bring depression. He will bring a darkness upon you. He'll tell you that God doesn't care. He'll tell you your church doesn't really care. He'll tell you your pastor's an old fogey and he'll try to work his way in your mind. And Satan will torment and torture you in your mind until you're ready to give up. He'll tell you there's no hope. Hey did you come in here today and your mind is in turmoil and you'd like to get help. But you wonder if you can. Hey, is your mind under attack from the powers of hell. Is the enemy talking in your mind right now?
Speaker 3:Hello, this is Brother Dylan, the podcast administrator of Holiness Preaching Online. Thank you for listening to this sermon today. We hope it encouraged you. If you'd like to contact us, please send us an email at hplministries at gmailcom. Have a blessed day.
