Rev. Micheal Johnson- "endeavoring to be endued"

Holiness Preaching Online

Text us here! (Leave us your number if you want a response from us!)

Rev. Michael Johnson delivers a powerful sermon on trusting God's promises even when circumstances suggest otherwise, emphasizing that the divine promises transcend human understanding and timing.

• The command to "tarry until ye be endued with power from on high" requires patient endurance in a fast-paced world
• God is not a man that He should lie—His nature makes it impossible for Him to break His promises
• Where God opens great doors of opportunity, opposition often follows, but the opportunity always outweighs the opposition
• The prophet may die, but the prophecy lives on—God's promises transcend human vessels and circumstances
• Personal testimonies of miracle babies demonstrate God's faithfulness after years of waiting
• In waiting, we develop the spiritual capacity to receive what God has promised
• God's delays are not denials—He keeps every promise He makes

Join us in believing that what God has promised, He will perform. He's not just a promise maker; He's a promise keeper.

Speaker 2:

Hello, this is Austin Griffiths, the pastor of Open Praise Fellowship Holiness Church in Easley, South Carolina. Thank you for listening to Holiness Preaching Online. Let's take these truths of God's Word with us and apply these biblical doctrines to our lives. I know you'll enjoy this sermon from a holiness preacher.

Speaker 3:

I appreciate them. I give them high honor. Thank you so much for the word of the Lord. Thank you to the pastor and his precious wife and the church here for your kindness, for opening your home to me. Brother Jonathan, sister Stephanie, they're some of the best friends we've got in the whole world and I'd like to do something, if you would allow me. Would you stand to your feet and give them a standing ovation the pastor and his precious wife. Could you do that with me today? I know this church has worked hard and they're wonderful people, they're friends, but they've got great leadership and I want to give them honor today. Hallelujah, while you're standing, if you'd be so kind to take your Bible. They've got great leadership and I want to give them honor today. Hallelujah, while you're standing, if you'd be so kind to take your Bible. Let's go to Luke, chapter number 24 today, and I appreciate everyone so much. Give honor to all of the ministry that's represented here today and give honor to Brother Finley, brother Lloyd and everyone else that's here. God bless you and appreciate you so very much.

Speaker 3:

I hate my wife isn't with me, but yesterday well, actually Thursday marked two weeks and, lord willing, we get to welcome our little promised baby into our family. Hallelujah, hallelujah. Some of you know our story. And God still gives miracle babies. Praise God. And so we've got little Tatum Bruce going to join our family and I'm so very excited about that. So if there's some couples here that that may seem hopeless in your home, just keep praying. God still answers prayer. Don't you dare give up on God. He ain't give up on you. Hallelujah. Luke, chapter 24, verse number 49. I pray the Holy Ghost to help me. You'll overlook my age and my feebleness, and the Spirit of the Lord will make up the difference and visit with us today. Luke 24 and 49. The Bible said and behold, I send the promise of my father upon you, but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until don't get in too big of a hurry. Wait till God does it, until ye be endued with power from on high. Hallelujah, the Lord would help me today.

Speaker 3:

I want to preach today on endeavoring to be endued. Could you ask the Lord to help me preach today? Heavenly Father, I love you so much and I thank you for the awesome privilege to share your word. Lord, I feel so humbled to share your word. Lord, I feel so humbled to share the pulpit with these great men of God. I need your help, lord. I feel my great need for you today. I pray Holy Ghost you'd help me. Give me the wit and wisdom whereby to preach your word. Help me to preach it with precision and power. In Jesus' name. Everybody said amen. Be seated today in the presence of the Lord. Endeavoring to be endued To endeavor is to exert oneself.

Speaker 3:

It's to do or affect something or make an effort and strive. The word endued, I think, is so important. It is to invest or endow with some gift, quality or faculty. It's to put on or to cause, as a person, to become filled or saturated with a certain quality or principle. I don't know about you, but I want to be endued with the power of the Holy Ghost in this generation. Hallelujah.

Speaker 3:

Here in the book of Luke, chapter 24, there is some incredible events that has taken place in chapter 24. We start out the chapter with the resurrection of the Savior. In the first six verses the Bible said Now, upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulcher bringing the spices which they had prepared and certain others with them, and they found the stone. Aren't you glad he's not there anymore. They found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher and they entered in and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass as they were much perplexed thereabout. Behold, two men stood by them in shining garments, and as they were afraid and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but he is risen. Aren't you glad we've got a living Lord that we're serving this morning? I feel him in my hands, I feel him in my feet. I felt him while the man of God was preaching. Aren't you glad he's alive today? Hallelujah, the resurrection of the Savior.

Speaker 3:

You go and you pick up in verse 13. You find the reappearance of the Savior. You got a couple of people that are making a trip down the Emmaus Road and Jesus appears to them. And of course we know the story there. It is such a powerful moment most of all of us have quoted it how that Jesus began to open the scriptures. Their eyes were veiled as Jesus makes his departure from them. The Bible said that their eyes were opened and they looked to one another.

Speaker 3:

That's the way I feel because of this camp meeting. Did not our hearts burn within us? I want to say to Westside, holiness Camp Meeting I'm leaving with a burning heart because the scriptures were so open to me. Can I say to us I'm so thankful for the word of God. I'm thankful that it's anointed, I'm thankful that it's alive. Aren't you glad for the power of the word? Hallelujah Boy, I feel like preaching today. I sure hope he'll help me do it.

Speaker 3:

There's the reappearance of the Savior and then there's his return to splendor. You get after our text. The Bible said that they watched him as he ascended back into glory and he sat down at the right hand of the Father and he makes intercession. Aren't you glad we got somebody bigger than us praying for us? Hallelujah, glory to God.

Speaker 3:

But before Jesus made his return to splendor, he left us some information and instructions that would be vital to the Christian believer. I want you to notice the spiritual information that Jesus left. And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you. Hallelujah, oh, glory to God.

Speaker 3:

One of the first times we received this spiritual information was the promise of the Father Back in Joel, chapter 2 and verse 28 and 29. You can quote it as well as I and it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. I still believe in an end time, on time, revival, hallelujah. Your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions, and also upon your servants and upon your handmaidens I will pour out of my spirit. I say God on a Saturday morning, pour it out on me, lord.

Speaker 3:

He left us some spiritual information, but also some serious instructions, but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem. How long, lord, I'll tell you, until we're living the most fast-paced hurry-up generation I've ever seen. I'm always in a hurry. I left Thursday evening after our doctor's appointment. I barely even stopped. I was in a hurry to get here. Well, that was a good reason, though. There's some good preaching and a move of the Holy Ghost going on, but I was in a hurry.

Speaker 3:

But listen in all that we do. We may hurry to Walmart and do the grocery pickup and not even go in, but whatever we do, we cannot forget to tarry until we are endued. The altar part of the church service is not the part we gotta hurry up on. Oh, help me, preach Lord, serious instructions upon. Oh, help me preach Lord, serious instructions. Tarry until ye be endued with power. Now, when you are tarrying in the altars, you are endeavoring to be endued by the power of the Holy Ghost. Those two words tarry until.

Speaker 3:

That word tarry is to linger in expectation, to wait to abide or stay in or at a place. My grandmother, she's gone on to be with Jesus, but she used to sing an old song you can't hurry God, you'll just have to wait. You'll have to trust in him, no matter how long it takes. He's a God that you can't hurry. He'll be there, don't you worry. He may not come when you want him, but he's right on time. That word until is used as a function word to indicate but it's right on time. That word until is used as a function word to indicate continuance as of an action or condition, to specify time For an example. Tarry until morning. Tarry until tonight. Hope you're praying for me. I'm trying to go somewhere for the Lord to help me today.

Speaker 3:

Tarry until Pentecost. That's why Paul begins to write to the church in Corinth and as he says, 1 Corinthians 16, 7 through 9, for I will not see you now, by the way, but I trust to tarry a while with you if the Lord permit. But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. I understand that Paul the apostle was probably penning about a day on a calendar. But you and I know very well that Pentecost is no longer just a day on a calendar. But you and I know very well that Pentecost is no longer just a day on a calendar. It is a way of a Christian hallelujah. I'm glad to be Pentecostal hallelujah. But then he gives us why he will tarry at Ephesus, for a great door and an effectual is opened unto me and there are many adversaries. Paul is tearing. Well, I hope the Holy Ghost helped me preach right now. Paul is tearing at Ephesus because God has given a great opportunity, but with every opportunity often comes opposition.

Speaker 3:

I thought it interesting, so I considered the two words great and many. Great door, many adversaries. I feel like that I'm preaching to somebody in the house that you have been given a great opportunity, that God has opened a great door, and you're looking at the opposition more than you are the opportunity and you're saying there's so many devils, there's so much against me. I come to preach to somebody on a Saturday morning. The opportunity is greater than the opposition. I feel the Holy Ghost about to breathe on me. Now.

Speaker 3:

I sit in that room until 3 o'clock this morning. I felt the Holy Ghost speaking to me. I don't know if I'm a preacher to a good pastor. I know my age, I'm only 33. I'm unlearned, but you hear me right now. You're looking at it and you're saying God, as Brother MacDonald always said, brother Kevin, 10,000 demons of hell. I know, I know they there, but quit looking at the opposition. God just opened up a door. Oh, have the Holy Ghost. Ephesus, I was going to see you at Corinth but I need to stay here. So I considered these words in terms of sheer magnitude, of meaning. Great is generally considered bigger than many. You gotta note. God inspired holy men of old. They did not pen one word by accident. I feel the Holy Ghost of priests today. There's a reason why he put great opportunity and many adversaries, because great's always bigger than many. I feel the Holy Ghost to preach right now. I feel the Holy Ghost to preach right now Come on it implies superior.

Speaker 3:

When you look at great, it implies a superior quality or extent, while simply many just means many people. I'm going to tell you right now my one big God, manifested in three persons. It's bigger than every demon of hell that ever come against us.

Speaker 3:

Go on and you break it down. Great can be described something as being notably large in size or superior quality, or outstanding in size or superior quality or outstanding in ability. It suggests a level of excellence or importance that is beyond ordinary. So when Paul says I have a great door, a great opportunity, what he's saying is this is a God thing. Then he says many simply indicates a large number of something. It doesn't imply any particular quality, it don't mean they can win, it just means there's a lot of them.

Speaker 3:

You see, it's like the little man in the word of God with the prophet. I want to be a preacher to somebody. And he goes and he looks at the prophet and he said I looked and I'm surrounded. Have you looked? They're all around us. And the prophet shakes his head. I must say. And he says Lord, open the eyes of the young man. I'm a preacher to somebody. I felt the Holy Ghost breathe on me today. Open the eyes of the young man. And when the Lord opened his eyes, he didn't just see the Assyrian army, he saw chariots and horses of fire. You know what the man of God was trying to tell him. Hey, boy, there's a lot more for you than there are against you. The opportunity is greater than the opposition. I'm telling somebody build that church, work for God. The opportunity is bigger.

Speaker 3:

I don't know who I'm preaching to, I ain't qualified, I'm sure. But you listen to me right now I'm telling somebody in this house God ain't never started nothing that he can't finish. Oh, hallelujah, the reason why Paul. Oh, I feel the Holy Ghost. The reason why Paul is at Ephesus. He said I, I'm going to stay right here. I just got a feeling God Knows what he's doing.

Speaker 3:

That's why you go to Revelation 3. He said I know thy works. Behold, I have set before thee An open door. God's job, the hold I set before thee, I feel holy. An open door. God's job Is to open the door. Your job, my job, is just to do the walking. He'll take care of the rest. What kind of open door is this, god? Now, that's a door that no man can shut. For thou hast a little strength. Am I preaching to anybody I felt I would be? That's got a little strength. All you got is a little strength In my weakness. His strength Is made perfect.

Speaker 3:

But notice, the opportunity Is greater than the opposition Because he says Behold, I will make of them. I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, that's, his adversaries, which say they are Jews and are not. But do lie, behold. I will make them to come and worship before thy feet and to know they are Jews and are not. But do lie, behold. I will make them to come and worship before thy feet and to know that I have loved thee Because thou has kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee From the hour Of temptation.

Speaker 3:

I want to make a clarification. The reason why the opportunity is always greater than the opposition is because the author of the opportunity is greater than the adversary that opposes. And then he writes I say also unto thee that thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against that. You're coming through it. I said you're coming through it. I said you're coming through it. I feel the Holy Ghost asking him to help me right now. This opportunity, this opportunity. I need to tell somebody you stay at Ephesus, don't you move, stay right there.

Speaker 3:

God's getting ready to do something. My daddy said it the other day. I was preaching revival. I was such a privilege To be able to preach revival At Brother Lloyd's. I was there revival. I was such a privilege to be able to preach revival at Brother Lloyd's. I was there. My dad called he was getting ready to build a church. Brother Finley, we ain't got no altar space. God's building a church in Jacksonville. We ain't got no running room and he breaks ground, hits a spring nobody knows about and it fills up two foot of water. My dad said I knew God's getting ready to do something. Cause the devil's always a fighting.

Speaker 3:

I need to talk to you about this endeavor to be endued. I don't know if I'll get past my first point, cause all I want is him to have his way, but I want to talk to have his way, but I want to talk to you. If you're going to be endeavored to be endued, the first step you need to research the promiser. By law and a legal contract, there is a promisee and a promisor. The promisee is the one receiving the promise that's me and you but the promisor, the promisee, is the one receiving the promise that's me and you. But the promisor is the one giving the promise. Now, the bad news is this A contract can be breached or broken, but the good news is we don't have a contract. We have a covenant, hallelujah. And a covenant is a written agreement or promise, usually under seal, between two or more parties, especially for the performance of some action. Our covenant of our text read like this Our covenant of our text read like this Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you. You know what that tells me. Walk through that door. Whatever you need, god's got it. God is the promisor, we're the promisee. Let's take a walk through the word of God. Let's research this promise right quick. Let's just see if he's trustworthy To keep his promises.

Speaker 3:

If you go to 2 Corinthians 1 and 20, the Bible said for all the promises of God In him are yea and in him amen. Unto the glory of God by us. You go to Numbers 23 and 19. The first five words. If you want to say it like that, one of them is just a letter, but the first five words is enough. About God. To sum it all up, can he be trusted? And it starts out like this God is not a man. Oh, I get amen, right there. He's not limited like man in strength, he's omnipotent. He's not limited like man in knowledge, he's omniscient. He's not bound by time nor space. I'm not present. He's not a man, can I tell you? I know you can trust your pastor. He's trustworthy. But with all that he can do, he's still a man. But you mark it down, take it to the bank, write it in stone. If God said it, then God's going to do it. He's never let one word fail.

Speaker 3:

It's not maybe it was Brother Finley yesterday, I don't know, but it's not that God won't lie. So much as it is he can't lie. You go on and you find in hope of eternal life, which God that cannot lie promised before. The world began that by in Hebrews 6, by two immutable things in which it was impossible for God to lie. After researching the promiser, I feel confident and sure that he's trustworthy to keep everything that he ever told me In Joel, chapter 2, 28 and 29, when Joel made a prophecy and it shall come to pass, I'm going to do this and this.

Speaker 3:

When that happened to Acts, chapter 2, now you help me I think it was around 800 and something years before that prophecy come to pass. I don't know if they laughed at Joel. I don't know what they said about that prophet. It don't matter, because on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Ghost fell, brother Finley Peter stood up with the 11 and he straightened the old wrecker out. He said this is that. Oh, I feel the Holy Ghost. When I walked out of that evangelist quarters at Brother Rusty Johnson's and my wife looked at me and said we are going to have a baby, I said this is that that God promised me five years ago. I feel the Holy Ghost right now. This was not in my notes, I did not intend to go here, but I was on my face this morning early and I was on my face this morning early and I was praying and I know I think I told it here maybe it bond and I felt like telling it from the Lord today the Holy Ghost fell in South Alabama in revival.

Speaker 3:

Brother JR and others were there. No real preaching, just the Lord moving. This sister came up to me years ago. That was at camp meeting at Brother Rusty's. Some of you are here probably remember Brother Winford King going on to be with the Lord. Brother Shannon Justice had preached that day or night and he had a bunch of baskets. He preached where they took up the fragments that remained in 12 baskets full. He preached on who took up the fragments that remained in twelve baskets full. He preached on who brought the baskets.

Speaker 3:

Brother King was moved by the Lord. He took a young lady, a lime green basket, and said the Lord said, brother Ben, god's gonna fill this basket With a baby. Ever since God's going to fill this basket With a baby, every since she's toted a lime green basket to church With a baby blanket and some other little items, believing that God's Going to fill the basket. Oh, I feel the Lord right now she came to me after church. She said preacher, you have no. What do you mean, sis? I said, was you there? I remember that. I said the devil told me that brother Winford King is dead, the prophet died and so the promise that God give me is dead, that there's no hope of a miracle. My eyes got big and I said listen, sis, I can tell you this right now the prophet might be dead, but the prophecy lives on. Brother Winford King was only the conduit that God used to get you the word, but the promise really came from a higher level and he's still alive.

Speaker 3:

I felt the Holy Ghost to walk in this church on a Saturday morning Before I go back to Jacksonville, alabama, and hold my promise in my arms. The promise keeper is still alive. I'm preaching to somebody right now. You thought your promise was dead. You thought it was all over. You thought there was no hope. But the promise keeper came by on a Saturday morning and said I will keep my promise.

Speaker 3:

Sister Biff and his snow, I ain't seen you in a month of Sundays. If it is snow, I ain't seen you in a month of Sundays. But I feel the Holy Ghost to tell you God's going to keep every promise that he ever made. You're toting an invisible green basket. I'm done. I just felt him check me. You thought it's over, my promise is dead, but I come to tell you your promise is alive as it's ever been. Speak Lord, speak Lord. Oh, oh, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen, amen. Come on pray with me right now.

Speaker 1:

Have your way, lord, yea, for I am not a man that I lie, yea, am I not the truth? Yea, and I live, I ever live.

Speaker 3:

I have performed my word and I will sayeth, the Lord of hosts, raise your hands all up, raise your hands a year ago come on preacher a year ago today, on a Saturday morning, brother, brother Lloyd, prophesied to me.

Speaker 5:

I wrote it down, brother. You said this may not be exact, but you said I have heard thee at 530 in the morning and I will send revival. And there's been many a time since then. I have to admit that I've wavered and I've wondered and I tell you I got something to tell the devil this morning.

Speaker 1:

You're a liar, you're a liar.

Speaker 3:

Come on, westside, god's going to send you revival. Do you hear what the Holy Ghost said? God's going to send you revival. That's enough to make the devil nervous to know that in Raven Virginia, their soul's going to be saved. In Raven Virginia, there's miracles to be had.

Speaker 3:

I'm preaching to somebody right now. You, you need to bail out of that pew right now and say I'm holding on to the promise, I'm not letting go of that promise. It's yea, it's amen. What he said, he'll do it. I'm waiting on you. Come on, the Holy Ghost just moved in this house. Come on, where you at.

Speaker 3:

I got a promise that ain't come to pass. I thought it was dead and over. Come on, I'm waiting on you. I believe God. I believe God that it'll be just as he spoke it. Come on, if you got a promise, push your way up. I'm waiting on you. Come on, I feel the Holy Ghost. Sister Lloyd, do you mind? I know you've worked so hard. Thank you, come on, I'm waiting on you. There's good preachers, preachers, wives. I feel the Holy Ghost. Come on, receive it. There's good preachers, preachers' wives, I feel the Holy Ghost. Come on, receive it. I'm waiting on you. Push up, push up. Come on in. Let the men of God pray for you this morning. Let somebody could I have any preachers that help me pray right now? Come on, come on, come on. The Holy Ghost is coming in to help us. He's wanting to answer some prayer. He's wanting to make good on some promises. He's wanting to give some miracles, right?

Speaker 1:

now, Come on, come on, come on come on, come on, come on.

Speaker 3:

Sister Stephanie, could you pass that sweet baby off? Come, take brother Jonathan by the hand. I know you're a pastor and pastor's wife, but would you let these great men, brother Sam, brother Kevin, brother Bill, there's others. I'm not trying to leave you out if I didn't mention your name, I promise it wasn't intentional. Just join with us, come on, come on. There's others. Come on, make your way. Make your way.

Speaker 3:

God's a promise keeper. I said God's a promise keeper. Not word, one word, not a jot nor tittle. It's going to fall to the ground. What he said he'll do. Somebody take Sister Bethany by the hand, pull her on in here with Sister Stephanie. Come on, see us. Come on in here, come on. God's a promise keeper. God's a promise keeper. We're about to have church in this house. God's a promise keeper. He's going to keep his word. I said he's going to keep his word. He's going to keep his word. I said he's going to keep his word. He's going to keep his word. I'm about to feel a wind from another world. I'm about to feel a wind, a wind.

Speaker 1:

I win. Oh, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.

Speaker 1:

He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power, all power in his hands. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power, all power in his hands. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power, all power in his hand. He's got all power. He's got all power, all power in his hand. He's got all power. He's got all power, all power in his hand. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power, all power in his hands. He's been toiling and rowing, latched it all night. But his life will burn. He can't walk or chew their bones. He's torn the sword with the words he stole. He says please, please, be still. When's that window made of will? He's got a power. He's got a power. He's got a power. He's got a power. He's got a power. He's got a power. He's got a power. He's got a power. He's got a power. He's got all power, all power in his hand. I said he's got it. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power. I said he's got it. I said he's got it. He's got all power, he's got all power. I feel a miracle. I feel all power. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power, all power. He's got all power, all power in his hand. I said he's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power, all power in his hand.

Speaker 1:

If you've got something bothering, you ain't got no money and your bills fast due. Look to your neck for a helping hand. There is the same shape that you're in. You can tell you're left or right, wondering if the sun will shine. Keep on walking, keep going straight. You're gonna make it to the first leg. Don't give up, don't stop, don't quit. God has never failed you yet. He's good. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power. He's got all power he's got all power.
